Description
Slugs are any mollusk in which the shell is reduced to an internal plate or is completely absent. They have a head with two eyestalks that allow for vision. They also have a pair of tentacles under their eyestalks that act as sensory organs.
Slugs are her maphrodites but must find a mate to exchange sperm for reproduction. They lay batches of gelatinous, watery eggs in moist crevices.
Most slugs are omnivores and eat a varied diet including vegetation, fungus, and animal waste.
Damage
Slugs can cause problems in the garden by eating leaves, stems, flowers, and bulbs. Severe slug feeding can injure plants, especially seedlings.

- S catter crushed eggshells around the plants. Crushed eggshells are so sharp that snails would hurt climbing over them.
